Support Groups

Guiding Star Siouxland is proud to offer a variety of peer-led support groups!

  • 4th Trimester Circle – The fourth trimester is the period of time from baby’s birth until three months of age. This time frame mother and baby go through so many changes and adjustments. This time and beyond can bring a lot of questions and concerns for parents. The 4th Trimester Circle support group is on Facebook and holds in person meet ups at Guiding Star Siouxland on Mondays from 9am-11am to support parents with these questions and concerns. We will feature a weigh clinic for baby, an on site lactation counselor, an area for parents to share and explore options, guest speakers, and more! All children and parents are welcomed.
  • LATCH Breastfeeding Support Group – Latch is the Breastfeeding support group for all mothers in any stage of their breastfeeding journey. It is a place for encouraging peer education. The Latch group is on Facebook and meets in person during 4th Trimester Circle at Guiding Star Siouxland on Mondays from 9am to 11am. During this group, our Lactation Counselor is available for complimentary support.
  • Pregnancy and Infant Loss – Our FREE in-person support group for those who know the pains of child loss. Whether the loss took place during pregnancy or infancy, you are not alone. This group meets the first Monday of every month at 6pm at Guiding Star Siouxland. Experience hope and support from our knowledgeable staff and counselors.
  • Hopeful Hearts – Our FREE in-person support group for those walking through infertility. In addition to our online page, this group meets on the second Monday of every month at 6pm. Find support, validation, and encouragement from others on the same journey.

Classes

Creighton Model Informational Class: FREE introduction session offered the first Monday of every month for women and couples interested in learning more about their fertility.

Intro to womanhood: No girl should ever fear her fertility. period. This class is for girls ages 9–13 years old and their mothers (or a trusted adult female caregiver/friend). This class aims to educate girls to understand the natural, biological functions and cultivate a healthy respect for their developing female body, so they can navigate puberty with confidence.

Modern womanhoodThis class for young women and couples in committed relationships aims to help aid in the understanding of their procreative and gynecological health and the couple’s fertility.

Pregnancy and Birth: Offers an overview of pregnancy stages, stages of labor, informed consent, how to make informed choices for pregnancy and birth based on evidence, empowerment!

Breastfeeding SuccessFor pregnant women (ideally in her third trimester) who plan to breastfeed. Learn what to expect in the early days and long term to be educated and equipped for breastfeeding success!

Postpartum and NewbornFor pregnant women (ideally in her third trimester) and her support person. Know what to expect in the early days of postpartum and the basics of newborn care. Leave feeling equipped and empowered to take on motherhood-whether it’s your first baby or your 5th.

Perimenopause: For women ages 35 plus, who are noticing changes to their “regular” cycle. No woman should ever fear her changing fertility, no matter her age. Class dates and details coming soon!
